How to boil an egg

Someone wrote to ask: How long do I boil an egg to make it hard-boiled?

Let me guess - Easter Egg hunting time, isn't it? **smile**

Place a pan on the stove with enough water to more than cover the number of eggs you wish to boil. Get it boiling good. Carefully place the eggs into the boiling water. I use a large plastic serving/cooking spoon, nestle the egg in the bottom and lower it into the water until the egg will easily roll off.

Depending on the size of the egg, boil 10 to 11 minutes, or until the eggs float. Turn off the heat, cover the pot, and let set for 30 minutes.

I suppose now you want to know about decorating eggs.

Of course, there are plenty of fun commercial egg coloring kits available. A simple search for "easter egg decorating" will give you more pages and information than you can ever read. And I've just added a short article on Natural Easter Eggs over at the Vegetarian Blog.

Many people love to buy an adorable little easter bunny or chick for their children this time of year. Nothing wrong with that - as long as you keep in mind that these cute little pets will grow up and live through several more Easters! Which is to say - you need to consider their life long care when you make the decision to buy a pet. You can find out more about Caring for your easter pet at this link.

Have a great holiday!
