Speaking of grace...We were treated to a very rare display of grace on our way home from work a couple of days ago. A herd of Pronghorn Antelope were returning from a visit to the small lake that gives our ranch it's name - Jornada Lake. They were just about to cross the gravel/dirt road and disappear onto BLM land when we came zipping by in our little red car. And screeched to a halt. The antelope milled for a second, then danced off in single file, weaving serpentine through the mesquite and yucca. We had a real rain this week and the wildflowers are blooming - yellow and purple. Most of them are barely four inches off the ground. The detail and dainty beauty of these blooms has to be seen to be believed. Wish our camera was up to sharing them. Ah well - a new camera is on our want list. At least we are both finally working - although I must say I miss being able to just hang out on the ranch all day... Good birding!
