Fox!

Driving into work tonight we spotted some eyeshine at the side of the road. Slowed down and was treated to a sighting of a Desert Fox. I'm glad we slowed down, as his first reaction was to run into the road, then circle, and vanish into the underbrush at the side. Wow. What a lucky sighting!

I missed the Endangered Species Act day - but you can still check out and write your Congressperson from the National Wildlife Federation; here. Seems lately that our government would like to get rid of the ESA completely, or at least cut off as many animals as they can and cut funds to nothing - which works out to the same thing. Let them know that we, their constituents, want to protect our wildlife.

I and the Bird #49 is up and what a special carnival it is this month. I love the poem and the creativity that went into it.

We've had rain, rain, and more rain this week. All I can give you for bird observations is that Sparrows obviously could care less if it is raining. They have demolished one bird block, and are working on their second. The Scaled Quail are helping - but if it is raining, the Quail have sense enough to take cover. Not our brave - or stupid - sparrows.

Good birding!
