Another photo visit

At last I got those photos of the Oryx from the other day all ready to go!

Bri's New Friend

Is that an Oryx with our cattle? Indeed it is!

Actually, we noticed him on the way home from work at 7 am. The minute we got home, James headed back with the camera. Not only was the oryx still there - he scored photos of a pair of Goshawks who had shown up in the meanwhile.

My favorite pretty cow has had a calf and he got some nice pix of them, too.

And one last nice one of the cattle heading off in the sun

This evening I was basking in the sunset, feet in the pool, book in hand. Movement caught my eye - and I got to watch as no less than six black tailed jackrabbits, and three smaller desert cottontails all came to our little pond for a drink. The jacks played with each other a bit. They look so ungainly, but move with the grace of a ballerina as they play and leap. The cottontails seem a bit intimidated by their much larger brethren. The Mockingbird who rules the front now ran several other birds off, and even tried running off the jacks. They were not impressed. I wish I could have gotten some photos - but I didn't want to move and scare everyone off. When I finally stood up to go inside, I caused a real stampede!
