I and the Bird #68

I think the Slybird at Biological Ramblings must have been on my front porch this morning while I ranted and raved because he sure nailed it with his I and the Bird #68 about winter birding - denial, anger, depression, and acceptance. If you are sick of dull or no winter birding, or not, go on over and have a good read. I even chuckled - and I'm in a really pissy mood right now!

We are having a beautiful sunny day here in Southern New Mexico - so why am I pissed? Well, I headed out with my spekky new laptop to work outdoors and discovered that I cannot do that any more. No - not even though we set up the wireless to throw out there. I get a signal alright. I just can't see a damn thing on the screen without squinting, sitting in the shade, adjusting the angle of the screen, shading it with my hands over my eyes and leaning so close I am almost touching the screen. Yeah, that's gonna work. In under 15 minutes I was developing a nice headache, but not getting much done.

So I am back inside, with my window and my rather dark little room.

The one high point while outdoors wrestling the computer was a bright little phoebe dancing here and there through the air and finally settling on a high wire to sing and sing. The white winged doves are calling and cooing, preparing for spring. I would much rather be outdoors - but I have so much work to do and so little time in which I am able to really do much of it. So I'm going to work for a while and then allow myself outdoors for a break in the afternoon. It will be even warmer then anyway!

Good birding!
