Hummingbirds!
Twice now a hummingbird has flown right up to me on the back deck, and inquired as to when they could expect me to hang the feeders. Had to talk to the roomie first - in case he had some objection to little winged jewels buzzing the back deck.
He did not, and so we hung the small feeder right outside my window as I sit at the computer to work.
Within minutes a Magnificent Hummingbird shot over to check it out. After a taste test, he rocketed off to tell all his friends. Since then a Broad-Tailed Hummingbird, and several females have made quick visits.
They all seem a little wary yet, perhaps because my kitten stood on the windowsill and scared a little female away. We raised the feeder so they would feel safer. The kitten is on the other side of the window - but I'm sure they don't realize that.
OH! I got the coolest news today! I won one of the "Life of the Skies" book giveaways from 10,000 birds! *doing a little happy dance* I can hardly wait to recieve it!
