Always an adventure...We kept him home for two days this week rather than risk his health. We don't need a repeat of last years hospital visit. So the Senior Center fired him. Apparently. Since they gave us no reason, and are now treating us like criminals. We are barred from the public building and using the Wifi - which is from the computer lab which isn't even theirs. We asked if we were barred from the lab and was told "I can't keep you out of there" (it belongs to the City). Nice, eh? We are looking at it as a blessing in disguise. He wasn't happy there. Lots of unpleasent internal politics. We had every intention of moving right along when the ranch sells anyway. I was already casting a leery eye on the situation and just waiting for him to start getting sick. James + miserable work situation = illness. We cannot afford to risk his health. I'd rather have a live husband and be broke, than be a widow of any financial means. The way it was all done was a bit fishy to us. I have a sneaking suspicion he's just been used as a pawn in some nasty little internal power play - especially as no complaint was made about his work at all - ever. They seriously don't think that SICK people ought to drag themselves to work with the SENIORS - you know, people with compromised immune systems. If they do - that's beyond stupid. So - I'll have even a little less Wifi. I wasn't stealing it mind you, using publicly available wifi in a public building, but now I'm barred. From a public building. For no reason that they choose to tell us. We'll just have to move that broadband card up a bit in the necessity list. Not to worry - life goes on. I still have the trickle of income from the websites and I'm sure he'll find other employment. If worse comes to worse, I'll go down to Las Cruces and do Day Labor for a few days a month. We don't need much here. Think I'll head on out of here. Supposed to have quite a little storm tonight/today so we might want to be home a bit early. Hole up on the ranch for a few days :) Oh yes - The Big Food Express in Elephant Butte - excellent menu and food for vegetarians! Not so good wait staff, but maybe it was just a bad day for him or something. Anyhow - gotta go. Blessedbe Summer Posted: Friday 12th January 2007, 1:53 PM Back to the Blog |
