Hang on to hope

Everything I've seen today gives me hope.

On the way to work we saw a Desert Fox!

One of the first things I read today in my new June issue of Western Horseman, over my morning coffee, was about a new organization created to address the issue of unwanted horses in America. They never quite come out and say it - but I think the main idea is to keep them out of the slaughterhouses. They have a website here and yes, you can help with donations or joining.

The very next article is about a special saddle built for a paraplegic. Gray's Custom Saddlery specializes in creating saddles that allow handicapped people to ride independently. The woman in the article now trains and shows Spotted Saddle Horses! Horses have been fantastic therapy for many handicapped people. This service, creating special saddles, makes it possible for handicapped riders and their mounts to do even more. Wow. Great stuff.

A rare turtle thought to be extinct has been found in Cambodia.

Madonna has donated a song to the charity Live Earth. You can download it free at MSN.com, and MSN has pledged to donate 25 cents for each of the first million downloads - you can be part of a good thing and get a good song, too - Here's the link.

All of which is grand on a day when I'm personally a bit out of sorts. No specific reason, just some silly little things people have said and done and rain for several days straight and...I don't know.

we had a good day at the ranch though. I repaired the goats shelter and James built them a new gate. This allowed us to shut them out of the old chicken coop, so we could move our poor chickens out of that warehouse and into the old coop. They won't be staying there permanently, but at least they have an outdoor yard and a bigger shelter. The chickens are getting huge! Now all the babies - kittens and chicks - are out of the warehouse, I can finally finish painting the ceiling and have that all done. Always another project out at the ranch.

I suppose you are looking at the updates and wondering if I've done anything all week! Well, I have been updating Pearls website, but it isn't quite done yet. I've also done quite a bit over on the adult side - although it has been neglected for so long that there is still a lot more to do. I'm real excited over being accepted by a new sponsor - a service I liked so much I joined the site even though they didn't approve me as an affiliate last time I applied! I don't have links up at this minute, but I am working on it. Those sites are really a train wreck. And I completed some custom clipart. So I have been working and busy, just nothing that shows up on the updates!

It has been raining every day this week. We had to wait for the water in the gulch to go down one morning already before we could get home. If the lake had not been really low, it probably would have cut us off by now, too. We have a couple more days of rain, and then the sunshine is supposed to be back Monday. So if I'm not back around - well, I might be rained in! Not that I mind all that much :)

Blessedbe
