The Magickal Desert

On Living in the Desert Southwest (USA)

by Summer Fey Foovay

The first people who settled here were struck with the awareness of this place. Austere, yet abundant. Beautiful, yet harsh. Unforgiving of error. Yet if one uses proper caution, not such a hard place at all.

You cannot blunder along here, your mind elsewhere or nowhere. You must remain aware, awake, conscious of where you are, your needs, the deserts willingness to provide – or not. The desert is not the lush, easy living of the rainforests humans evolved to exploit. Humans are able to adapt to the environment we find ourselves in, to evolve, to ascend. The desert insists that you adapt to it, for it will not adapt to you.

A special place drew special people. The energy formed and coalescenced and created more energy. Magic. The people stayed, studied, ascended.

We always wonder where the people of Chaco Canyon went. They simply ascended. From their higher plane of enlightenment, they still watch over this place today. The magic, the wisdom, the energy and teaching they used are still here. Still available.

This place still draws special people, who are the exact people to touch this magic, make use of it, and draw themselves closer to ascension – improving the culture, the world we live in now, as they do so.

The old European religions say that anyplace that the elves, themselves ascended near spirit beings, have lived has forever glamour about it. The living things are more alive. The same is true here. The creatures are perhaps the same species as those in other places – but those who are here, are more alive, more self-aware, more ascended.

The magic is here, all around us. It is up to us to learn to use it in the proper way. There is danger in magic, just as there is danger taking a stroll through the desert on a sunny afternoon. Awareness is the key. Stroll through the desert in sturdy but comfortable boots, aware of the rattlesnake, with a bottle of water, and possibly a few other items, and you will see and learn and gain. Stroll along the ways of magical energy, with your pure and loving heart, aware of your own emotions, honest in your desire, and you may see and learn and gain.

Clomp along through the desert in your tennis shoes, complaining and paying no attention to where you are, and you may lose yourself with no water or way home. Mr. Rattler may just find your unprotected ankles. Walk the path of magic, with negativity in your heart and turmoil in your spirit and the energy will give back what you put out.

It is really that simple. Yet for many people, it is too complex, too difficult, to look outside of their own boundaries. It is all here. It always is. But are you?

Blessedbe

Summer
