It's Monday, isn't it?

I've spent the last four days struggling to remove some particularily vicious and intrusive malware from my computer. It was especially irritating because it was particularily set up to sell a certain Malware remover! Yes - you need our malware remover - we know you do - because we just crammed your computer with our malware - *evil laughter*.

I had it off by today, but spent the day downloading security plugs and various software to watch for and remove malware/spyware and so on. After losing another entire days work to that, let me just say this...

Install Get Firefox!

Now, mind you, I am not going to spend a lot of time dissing Microsoft for IE. I have no doubts that as Firefox spreads and becomes more and more popular, the hackers will turn their attention to it and we will slowly but surely begin to see junk foisted upon us through our Firefox as well. But right now, it is an ideal solution. With any luck - it will remain so!

Meanwhile, if you are slugging along with an IE, even if you intend to install Firefox, a fantastic resource for help in repairing your computer is at Tom Coyote dot org. No affiliation, I found them on a search under the specific malware I was suffering. (I don't want to name names, but if there is an ad here for WinFix2005 on my Google ads - don't click on it ;) ) The people there were wonderful about explaining the fix in nice, simple terms for me and getting back to me very quickly with answers and solutions. I was way beyond impressed.

There is a list as long as your arm of software to install to try and keep your IE safe, but I'll let you find that at Tom Coyote's site (just browse the messages under Malware). Give those folks a donation while you are there!

Tomorrow we shall be back to our regularily scheduled program of recipes and veggie thoughts! (Thanks to the folks at TomCoyote.org)
