Fruit and Spice Park

Now here is something quite unusual - a fruit and spice park! Over 500 varieties of fruit, spices, and vegetables are grown at this park in Redland, Florida. Exotic plants from all over the world, and their produce, are yours for the tasting, seeing, and even planting. Visitors are welcome to take cuttings and seeds home to plant! If you are anywhere near the park, or will be soon, it sounds well worth the visit! There is a more detailed article Here

I have been reading "The Alkalyzing Diet" by Istvan Fazekas and one of the points he makes is that many people have never seen raw food. He mentions a teenager in a class he taught who had never seen the inside of an orange. Since I love to garden, and to cook from scratch and learn new things all the time, this seems almost unbelieveable to me.

But then I've talked about this at home and guess what? The husband reached over and plucked the fresh peach out of my hand, cut off a slice and handed it back to me last night. I offered him his own peach - LOL. "No thanks", he shook his head, "I've just never tasted a fresh one and wondered..." and he blushed. Until he met me, poor man, I don't think he had ever seen, let alone eaten, raw food. His family somehow subsists on frozen dinners, fast food, and stuff from cans and boxes. They consider it "from scratch" if you have to add an egg or water. Mind you, they also suffer from multiple health problems - every one of them - except my husband. *wink*
