CSI actress, Jorja Fox urges "Investigate Vegetarianism"

Sure, it's cheesy, or actually, depending on how serious you decide to be, it isn't at all dairy so...anyway, it's late and I've written a lot today and that is my only excuse.

I love CSI, bet lots of you love CSI, bet lots of quite intelligent thinking people love CSI, and who better to appeal to for thoughtful living and investigating living the vegetarian lifestyle. Besides, you can get a vegetarian forensic kit. More fun than this blog lately, eh? :P

And then be prepared for your interrogation.

A good way to start is to read:

Point/Counterpoint : Animal Experimentation

In fact, it is a good article to read if you are unsure or uninformed yourself. Personally, I find animal experimentation far more repugnant than factory farming - and that is going a ways. People will really go ballistic on you, though, when you inform them that you will not donate to their Cancer Run unless they can assure you that none of the funds are being used for animal research.

Be prepared to rebutt them when they tell you how people will die if we don't kill animals, because that simply is not true.

A related issue that distresses me a great deal are these new breeds of mice being created and "Patented" as though they were not a living being. Recently, scientists put actual human brain cells into a mouse. We have no clue what result that might have for the mouse, or if any results obtained using that mouse pertains to humans.

The patented mice, "guarenteed to develop cancer". What has that got to do with human cancer then? I am not guarenteed to develop cancer, neither are you! What if Cancer is caused by environmental factors we could control (as I believe is true) and avoid. You'll never prove it with the "guarenteed to get cancer" mouse, will you? If a drug keeps that mouse from getting cancer, or cures it's cancer, what realistic relationship does that have to a human cancer that obviously has a completely different cause. Meanwhile, here are these hundreds of mice that are definately going to die an early and painful death from cancer.

I have four mice in a cage a few feet from me here. They have personalities, likes, dislikes, foibles, favorite activities and every right to live a good life that we do.

Blah.

I'm going off to Gather.com and try to think good thoughts and calm down so I can sleep at night.
