A DisappointmentWell, all that speculation aside, when I saw the July issue of Discover had an article titled "Grow Your Own Meat", I purchased it. Don't. There is approximately one paragraph about the new technology and then two pages of insults about us pale, pasty-faced, sickly pathetic whiny vegetarians and our desire to just feel self-righteous and martyred and how hurt we will be when we can no longer sigh long-sufferingly as we refuse the meat dish. I, personally, originally stopped eating meat because I just don't like the taste of it. Then began to learn about the horrors of factory farming. So, no matter how antiseptic and non-painful the production of meat becomes, I will probably never eat it again ANYWAY. Don't miss it. My husband is now vegetarian for health reasons (along with quite a few vegetarians). That isn't going to change either. His body will still not be able to metabolize meat. He'll still be vegetarian. I do think it might be very nice for those who are vegetarian purely on moral basis, if they miss meat, to be able to have a nice guilt-free steak, or chicken, or whatever. I wonder what is going on in this world lately? It seems like there is so much hate and negativity. Every single online community I am a member of has fallen lately to the worst of the worst in insults, flames, taunts, and negativity. Looks like the print media is participating as well. I know there are some rough times ahead for myself, and it has been difficult to keep from falling into the trap of striking out at others, but I think I've managed so far. But what is wrong with the rest of the world? If I were so inclined, I'd think the End Days are Coming and it's a damn good thing because none of us deserve to live! Well, whatever. Let's sit down to a nice, hot bowl of Everything in the Refrigerator stew tonight and enjoy a movie :) Summer Posted: Monday 10th July 2006, 3:51 PM | Back to the Blog |
