Doc and the DesmoSomeone replied it is something that makes a very loud Ducatti racing motorcycle wicked fast. This did not reassure me as to the correctness of my facts! As you probably know, a desmodromic valve system is a rather unique design in which the valve is closed by a rocker arm rather than a spring, eliminating valve float and also making it faster. When I got hold of a family member they explained to me that in the 1960s BMG Motorcycles of Ilford decided to try and put a Desmo on a Velocette racing motorcycle. They tried and tried but couldn't get it to work. So they called Doc. He agreed to give it a try and they shipped him several units to work on. Doc (G. R. Brown) got it to work. In return he became the only U.S. distributor of the desmodromic valve kit for the Velocette from his shop, BHB Cyclery in Elmonte, CA. We do have four desmodromic valve systems available to sell at $2000.00 each that are complete units. It is possible that in the future we will find more, or add some incomplete units. Keep in mind that you will need to be able to install it yourself as there is no longer any family member who knows how to get it to work. But I hear if you get it to work - you get a noisy Velocette that is wicked fast.
